Adana’s New Mayor Refuses to Pick Up His Mandate -Reports

According to sources in Adana, the newly elected mayor from CHP, Mr. Zeydan Karalar has refused to pick up his mandate from the Supreme Election Committee asking the help of the city’s governor to assign four state inspectors while he and his team takes over the municipality.

Mr. Karalar has apparently cited the scale of corruption in Adana for his decision. He says he does not want to be responsible for any of the illicit affairs while taking over, and will do so once the inspectors record the transition and all the paperwork being transferred to the new local administration.

Our sources say we may see some turmoil in Adana soon, following Mr. Karalar’s decision.
