Turkey Walks Out on Conference on Libya
Turkey withdrew from a conference being held in Palermo, Italy after Vice President Fuat Okyay says “Turkey is leaving the conference disappointed.”
Mr. Okyay spoke with journalists at the hotel the conference was held. He said “Unfortunately, the international community has not been able to act as one. We witnessed unilateral actions by some of the participants. We will not see stability in Libya as long as some countries try and misuse this opportunity for their own benefit. We are open to establishing a dialogue with all the countries in and around Libya. It is not possible for the countries who are responsible for Libya’s current state to contribute to its betterment.”
He also added that meetings held without Turkey will not help the situation in Libya.
