Internal Security Update (16-23 July 2018)
In the week of 16-23 July 2018, within the framework of domestic security operations over the past week, around Turkey, Gendarmerie Special Operations (JOH), Police Special Operations (POH) and Gendarmerie Commando Forces together with Turkish Armed Forces air and land units performed 1.898 operations, wherein 3.883 persons were detained of which, 439 persons for aiding and abetting members of terrorist organizations or for being connected with terror organizations (PKK/KCK 81, Radical left 11, DEAS 13, FETO 334), 3.326 persons in connection with narcotics and smuggling and 118 in the fight against human trafficking and illegal migration.
Also within the scope of these operations over the past week, a total of 40 terrorists, were neutralized (26 killed, 6 captured alive, 8 surrendered).
3 caves, shelters, storage and other positions were rendered unusable and explosives, weapons, ammunitions and other materials were confiscated during the operations in 3 provinces, namely Diyarbakir, Tokat and Hakkari.
21 weapons of which 17 are heavy (1 Dragunov, 2 M-16, 1 Rocket, 12 Kalashnikoff, 1 Machine gun) were confiscated along with following materials:
- 16 Hand-grenades
- 1.100 rounds of various calibre ammunition
- 12 handmade mines
- 39 kg explosive.
In the fight against narcotics, drugs and smuggling activities during 2.518 operations the following were confiscated:
► 1.425 kg Marijuana,
► 15 kg Heroin,
► 1,5 kg Cocaine,
► 3 kg Synthetic Cannabinoid Substance,
► 7.687 Ecstasy pills,
► 123.882 Captagon,
► 5 kg Methamphetamine,
► 729.009 roots of Cannabis.
In addition, below items were also confiscated in these operations,
► 372.321 illegal cigarettes
► 89.769 litres of illegal fuel
3. 326 suspects were detained.
During cyber crime prevention activities; investigation into 403 social media accounts were made for terror and terrorist organization propaganda, hate speech and hostility towards individuals, insulting senior members of state, attacking the integrity and sovereignty of the state and threat to public, out of which 267 people were identified and judicial procedures were initiated.
WITHIN THE SCOPE OF COMBATING ILLEGAL MIGRATION; 6.801 illegal migrants, out of which 740 were at sea, were caught and 118 organizers of human trafficking and illegal migrants were detained.
