Internal Security Update (25-02 July 2018)
In the week of 25-02 July 2018, within the framework of domestic security operations over the past week, around Turkey, Gendarmerie Special Operations (JOH), Police Special Operations (POH) and Gendarmerie Commando Forces together with Turkish Armed Forces air and land units performed 1.363 operations, wherein 3.856 persons were detained of which, 985 persons for aiding and abetting members of terrorist organizations or for being connected with terror organizations (PKK/KCK 170, radical left 5, DEAS 33, FETO 777), 2.805 persons in connection with narcotics and smuggling and 66 in the fight against human trafficking and illegal migration.
Also within the scope of these operations over the past week, a total of 36 terrorists, were neutralized (21 killed, 4 captured alive, 11 surrendered).
2 caves, shelters, storage and other positions were rendered unusable and explosives, weapons, ammunitions and other materials were confiscated during the operations in 2 provinces, namely Mardin and Sirnak.
28 weapons of which 19 are heavy (5 M-16, 4 Machine Gun, 12 Kalashnikoff) were confiscated along with following materials:
- 18 Hand-grenades
- 3.554 rounds of various calibre ammunition
- 11 handmade mines
- 74 kg explosive.
In the fight against narcotics, drugs and smuggling activities during 2.183 operations the following were confiscated:
► 314 kg Marijuana,
► 252 kg Heroin,
► 13 kg Cocaine,
► 0,5 kg Synthetic Cannabinoid Substance,
► 15.154 Ecstasy pills,
► 452 Captagon,
► 4.5 kg Methamphetamine,
► 449.876 roots of Cannabis.
In addition, below items were also confiscated in these operations,
► 315.265 illegal cigarettes
► 67.875 litres of illegal fuel
2.805 suspects were detained.
During cyber crime prevention activities; investigation into 408 social media accounts were made for terror and terrorist organization propaganda, hate speech and hostility towards individuals, insulting senior members of state, attacking the integrity and sovereignty of the state and threat to public, out of which 281 people were identified and judicial procedures were initiated.
WITHIN THE SCOPE OF COMBATING ILLEGAL MIGRATION; 3.138 illegal migrants, out of which 457 were at sea, were caught and 66 organizers of human trafficking and illegal migrants were detained.
