BanglaDesh, New Strategies Developed After Dhaka Terror Instance
Your writer would like to draw your attention to emerging terror instances these days, and to the common political solutions to these unpleasant events all over the world.
We observe with amazement and horror that there is a ruthless method as applied by Russians for centuries, which has become regular practice, unanimously accepted by authorities in every country in the world. For the Russians, the human life that is lost in the battle is worthless. What is important is total destruction of the enemy. Russians spend all their human, equipment and material resources to win the war.
In 1943, during the biggest tank fight ever witnessed by the world, a total of 1961 Russian tanks were destroyed against 760 German tanks in the Kursk battle. Germans lost the war and withdrew. Germans could not replace their lost tanks because the factories in their homeland were bombed to dust. On the other side, Russians produced far better models for the tanks they lost in battle in the five factories located away from the war zone which were built behind the Ural mountains. They put them on the battlefield in a fast pace. During the 1945 Berlin Siege, a total of 81 thousand Russian soldiers and 90-100 thousand German soldiers were killed.
In the case of hostage taking, there is no point in caring for the loss of youth, elderly, children, men and women in the Russian strategy. All the hostages may die. What is important is total eradication of terrorists. All terrorists must be destroyed in the end. In 2002 at the Moscow Dubrovka theater, and in 2004 at the Chechen Beslan school hostage taking incidents, a large number of hostages died, along with all the terrorists.
In the past, in Western societies, negotiating with terrorists was the key. There were professional negotiators, psychologists employed to save hostages. Authorities concluded that these humanitarian efforts were futile since the terrorists did not care. There is no end to their demands. Although international community rejected it at first, a ruthless procedure began with the Israelis at the Munich Olympics. In year 1971, all Israeli athletes were taken hostage. Terrorists killed all of them. Israel ceased negotiating with the terrorists after that. In year 1976, in the Uganda Entebbe surprise attack, most of the hostages were rescued, while all of the terrorists were killed without any negotiation.
On 1-2 July 2016, all six-terrorists were killed in Dhaka Bangladesh, while 20-foreign hostages and 2-policemen were also killed.
It is now a common practice to not negotiate with the terrorists. The security forces are killing them all, with some of the hostages ending up as casualties as well.
Nowadays, the strategy of attacking by all means is the key. As copied from the Russian practice, the main objective is to destroy the enemy at all costs. Media and internet communications are being censored to remove the possibility of any negotiation.
In 20-June 2016 Ataturk airport attack, terrorists did not take any hostages. They blew themselves up. In BanglaDesh 1-July event, the foreigners the terrorists took hostage in a café in Dhaka, were all young educated religious, university students. They were children of wealthy families living their normal lives. In Dhaka, we are not talking about poor, uneducated comrades. During the intervention by the security forces, all terrorists and hostages died in Dhaka.
Now we are entering into a new turning point. The war on terror will be very cruel. The more you hesitate, the more vulnerable you are. During WW2, we had experienced rulers in this country, who tried to avoid war and to not spare any soldier, or any father. Our kids did not lose their fathers. We had difficulties but not war and destruction. The time has come for democracy in our region. But it is being applied differently than the classical all-inclusive western application. The new brutal and cruel strategies in the parliamentary struggles all over the world will force them to enforce the new obligations. New rules of power will bend the arm of opposition. The new rules will force us to comply with their demands.
Führer of Wehrmacht Germany had no post-secondary education. He was earning his life as a humble painter before joining the Nazi party in post-WW1. He ended the WW1 with the rank of corporal with an iron star metal. When he went to jail, he wrote the book, “Main Kampf”. The Nazi party, which was headed by “Führer”, in 1933, took 33% of the all votes and won political power. They pushed Germany to WW2. They had a wide range of talent pool with professors and businessmen at their disposal. When the Führer was in his Berlin shelter in 1945, he said, “Mighty German people have chosen me, they can die because I came to power to rule them.”
So you as voters are responsible for the politicians you choose. They have to give you an answer for every decision they make. They can not act as they wish. They have to be accountable. You have to monitor them at all times by all means.
At the 2016 METU university graduation ceremony, there was a famous poster in the hands of new graduate students at Revolution stadium, “It is not so important to graduate from this school, but it is very important to survive in this country”.
If any similar event happens near you, leave that place as quickly as possible. That is why Embassies warn their compatriots, never enter into dangerous areas, because it is very difficult to get out.
